Block & Beam
SpanWright Block and Beam units are designed and manufactured in accordance with BS8110 (or the relevant Euro codes) and our Quality Assurance Scheme in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001.
The Beam and Block Flooring units will be supplied in sizes and spacings to suit the design loadings supplied.
Nominal bearings of 100mm for masonry and 75mm steel and concrete structures are required. All bearing structures must be adequately cured before installation works commence.
Any in-fill blocks required should be solid 440x215x100mm, manufactured in accordance with BSEN771 and be minimum 3.5N/mm2 compressive strength and able to support a transverse load of 3.5kN on a span of 420mm. If we give layouts, they will be prepared based on block densities of 1450kg/m3, unless otherwise stated. If you propose to use different block densities please consult our technical department.
The top surface of the units is suitable to receive a wet finish such as a screed. All prestressed units will have upward cambers and due allowance in any finishes should be allowed for this.
